Tired of running Calc everytime you want to convert a hexadecimal number to decimal? Now you can convert hex to decimal and vice versa with this simple command-line utility.
Usage: hex2dec [hex|decimal]
Include x or 0x as the prefix of the number to specify a hexadecimal value.
e.g. To translate 1233 decimal to hexadecimal: hex2dec 1233
e.g. To translate 0x1233 decimal to hexadecimal: hex2dec 0x1233 |

John the Ripper is a fast password cracker, currently available for many flavors of Unix (11 are officially supported, not counting different architectures), Win32, DOS, BeOS, and OpenVMS. Its primary purpose is to detect weak Unix passwords. Besides several crypt(3) password hash types most commonly found on various Unix flavors, supported out of the box are Kerberos AFS and Windows NT/2000/XP/2003 LM hashes, plus several more with contributed patches. |

Kryptor is a graphical tool that will let you encrypt files using the algorithm ARCS.
It is also possible to erase files overwriting data with a pseudo-random sequence of bytes iterated three times, this will make data recovery a very complex operation.
