* This is a utility to (re)set the password of any user that has a valid (local) account on your NT system.
* You do not need to know the old password to set a new one.
* It works offline, that is, you have to shutdown your computer and boot off a floppydisk or CD. The bootdisk includes stuff to access NTFS and FAT/FAT32 partitions and scripts to glue the whole thing together.
* Will detect and offer to unlock locked or disabled out user accounts!
* It is also an almost fully functional registry editor! |

The Brute-Force Password Cracker
When I was trying to understand the insecurity of UNIX passwords, I looked for simple software as an example. Sure, there was the famous Crack, but I found Hale's viper.pl more readable. I was interested to improve his code to measure and print the performance and time estimates for brute force attacks so I contacted Hale about my ideas including re-writing his program in 'C' for maximum speed. |

Wizmo
Steve's multipurpose Windows gizmo
Wizmo is a multipurpose miscellaneous Windows utility that provides an array of single-click functions that are missing from Windows. Triggered by a single mouse click, it can do things like power down your system's displays, activate your screen saver, change or mute the audio volume, restart, reboot, or shutdown your system, and much more. It even includes a rather cool built-in Graviton screen saver that simulates the motion of any number of mutually gravitationally attracted celestial objects. Check out Wizmo's web page for the current (and growing) complete list of Wizmo's capabilities and features. |
