Note: Linus' policy of not preserving backward compatibility in kernel development has broken Filemon and made obsolete the approach it takes to monitor file system access on recent kernel releases. Unfortunately, there's no alternative mechanism for monitoring file system accesses (including reads) in real-time, and while other system-level tools that take the same approach as Filemon of patching the system-call table (like Intel's Vtune) work-around the changes with hacks, I'm not willing to invest the time on something so prone to breaking.
Filemon monitors and displays file system activity on a system in real-time. Its advanced capabilities make it a powerful tool for exploring the way Linux works, seeing how applications use the files and shared libraries, and tracking down problems in system or application file configurations. Filemon's timestamping feature will show you precisely when every open, read, write or delete, happens, and its status column tells you the outcome. Filemon is so easy to use that you'll be an expert within minutes. It begins monitoring when you start it, and its output window can be saved to a file for off-line viewing. It has full search capability, and if you find that you're getting information overload, simply set up one or more filters.
Filemon for Linux requires Linux 2.4. Filemon versions are also available for NT 4.0, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows XP 64-bit Edition, Windows 95, Windows 98 and Windows ME. |

If you're a software author, at some point you've probably wanted to submit your software to some of the software archives around the net; sure it was fun the first one or two, but around the fourth site, fun turns into a chore, and at about site six it's torture. Isn't there an easier way to do this? There is now...
AnalogX SoftSubmit is the best thing to happen in software development since, heck, the Internet (because before then, we didn't have to worry about this!). It contains templates for more than 50 of the BEST file archives and directories on the net, so you only have to enter your programs information ONCE, and you can let your computer do the tedious job of submitting it over and over!
SoftSubmit is also blazingly fast - it can submit to almost all of those servers in less than a minute! It supports submitting via either the forms on the website or by sending a custom email messages to the admins with the information formatted just the way they like it. Make *SURE* to read all of the documentation before using this program! |

Have you ever run across a piece of software that did something that you couldn't figure out how they did? Or perhaps you suspect that some Microsoft application might be using an undocumented function; in either place, AnalogX TextScan gives you a quick and easy way to find out details from just about any program.
AnalogX TextScan searches any binary file for a minimum and maximum string length, and then returns all occurrences in sorted order... But it doesn't just stop there, it also has the ability to identify most functions and DLL's inside of a file, and even has the ability to extract both char and unichar strings! This is a great first step in getting a better understanding of what's happening inside of a program you're interested in, or even for just looking for the occasional Easter egg! |

PCalc v1.13

If you're a programmer, you've probably downloaded a so-called 'programmers calculator' at least once in your life, only to be sorely disappointed; I'm sorry, but displaying the results in hex and/or binary doesn't make a calculator a 'programmers calculator', nor does making 42 a constant in it either! Someone should do something about this, and someone has...
Programmers around the world, your prayers have been answered - Behold AnalogX PCalc, the ULTIMATE programmers calculator. Forget putting up lame buttons with numbers on them; that's fine in the real world, but hardly useful in a GUI, let's instead focus on functionality, and that's just what I did.
AnalogX PCalc allows you to enter any equation in the EXACT same format as C/C++, and it will process it with the same precedence, giving you the results in a variety of formats! PCalc also supports the use of user-defined variables, and also has most of the common constants used already defined. |

ACM Properties is an easy way to get a listing of all the installed ACM plugins, as well as the audio formats that they can input and output (and their respective bit depths, sample rates, etc). ACM Properties is especially handy when you're having a problem using a plugin in another program, and can quickly check to see if the format is correct. |
