StartLogic

StartLogic is one of the most known web hosting companies around. Something caught my eyes though:

Unlimited space and Unlimited transfer for only 5.95$

Another good point in favor of StartLogic is the included SPAM Filter on all the Unlimited email accounts you can have.

SSL is supported and included in the package so that you don't have to register (and pay) another service for that.

StartLogic advertises that they offer protection against DoS attacks. It's not very common among the hosting services around so it can be a reason for going with them.

They show the HackerSafe logo on their web pages. Not that this is a security add on feature (no one believes to it in the security field) but at least it shows they care. Hackers not able to break your site will try to break your hosting account to reach your control panel. If these panels are not safe, you're not safe.

For what concerns the post-disaster handling, they don't seem to have a super-fast response but they have a good phone support with a worldwide toll-free number.
This may turn out useful in some cases and, as of my direct experience, not something to be underestimated.
